This position acts as an assistant to the Director of Standards and Seal of Approval. The intern will participate in the development and roll-out of a new tiered certification system, assist in all aspects of the internal screening process, and conduct research to expand our online resources for businesses.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the green business movement, network with cutting edge businesses across America, and gain a deeper understanding  of the steps needed to move toward a deeper commitment to sustainability in a green economy.

Responsibilities:

  • research specific environmental and social business practices by industry, including facts, step by step guidance, and resources for businesses in the new online screening tool.

  • coordinate editing and upload of all content.

  • run reports to track activity of Green Business Network Members in the tool.

  • analyze trends and flag any recurring issues after initial launch of new certification.

  • update database to reflect changes in certification type for existing business members.

  • assist in creating new educational resources on a range of topic areas for small businesses.

  • compile list of contacts for leading experts, green trade organizations, and tradeshows in a variety of industries to inform the stakeholder process for the screening tool.

Qualifications

  • strong interest in learning about socially and environmentally responsible business practices.

  • general familiarity with a broad range of social justice and environmental issues.

  • strong written and oral communication skills.

  • superb organizational skills.

  • excellent attention to detail and follow through.

  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • ability to work independently and in teams.

  • excellent problem-solving abilities and willingness to take initiative.

  • proficiency in Microsoft applications and experience working in databases.
