Green Access Officer (Discovering Suffolk)

Suffolk County Council looks after 5,600km of public rights of way, 5,000ha of open access, the England Coast Path National Trail and other forms of green access.

Our vision is 'To get more people using and enjoying Suffolk's Green Access network'. Every member of the Rights of Way and Access service plays a part in making this happen, and you can be part of that team.

The county council's Green Access team are looking for a talented and innovative individual to deliver a new 2-year project called Discovering Suffolk. Discovering Suffolk is one of a number of projects funded by Suffolk County Council's 2020 Fund. The Discovering Suffolk project will create a new Suffolk Walking App, develop a network of QR Codes to interpret promoted trails, and replace roadside rights of way signposts to help communities and visitors access and enjoy Suffolk's countryside.

We are looking for individuals who can:

* successfully deliver projects and illustrate strong project management skills

* be creative and innovative in delivering practical solutions

* be effective communicators, building partnerships with communities, agencies or other councils

* help us improve and develop our Green Access network, in line with local and national priorities

* understand and apply access legislation.

Challenges will include:

* project managing against set timescales and budgets

* developing effective, creative and engaging interpretation of the landscape

* engaging communities and partners with the project's objectives and actions

* providing clear and concise updates on project delivery.

Interviews will take place online, and training will be a mixture of online and in the office or field, where this can be done in line with Covid-19 procedures. Due to the current situation with Covid-19, we have strict limitations on staff working in our offices and most of us are being asked to work from home. This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.
