The Great Salt Pond Assistant is responsible for working jointly for the Committee for the Great Salt Pond and The Nature Conservancy for the benefit of the Great Salt Pond. Duties include: leading nature walks for the public and local camps; designing and implementing special pond based programming; developing interpretive displays and materials; and assisting with biological monitoring and other scientific activities, assisting with the established Committee for the Great Salt Pond water quality program; organizing volunteers; leading water quality programs for the general public and other targeted people, etc. The Great Salt Pond Assistant is directly supervised by the Block Island Program Director. This is a 10-week position beginning on/or about June 21, 2010. This position is a paid part-time position (20 hrs. per week), short-term at a rate of $8 to $12 per hour depending on experience. Housing is not provided.
