2014 Great Cocky Count Coordinator (WA)

Location: Floreat (Perth)

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the recovery of the endangered Carnaby’s BlackCockatoo. Based in Perth, this position will coordinate the 2014 Great Cocky Count and ongoing surveys at selected roost sites over the summer-autumn period.

The Great Cocky Count is an annual community-based snapshot survey that monitors Carnaby’s
Cockatoos flying into their night-time roosts. Multiple roost sites are surveyed across south-west WA by hundreds of volunteers on a single evening in April.

The role involves promoting and coordinating the 2014 Great Cocky Count on the Swan Coastal Plain
and in regional locations. Duties also include coordinating data entry and maintaining existing
databases; developing strong community and professional networks; planning and delivery of
community training workshops; and production of the 2014 Great Cocky Count report and the
subsequent communication of results.

The position is full-time for a fixed term (5 months), commencing mid-January 2014. The position is
based at the BirdLife WA office in Floreat.

Salary/Conditions: $53,450 to $56,250 (pro rata) plus 9.25% superannuation; fixed-term contract (5
months).
