Do you want to be a part of a ground-breaking approach to working with nature? Ulster Wildlife is seeking to employ an experienced and skilled person to deliver the Northern Ireland element of the Save Our Magnificent Meadows programme.

Save Our Magnificent Meadows is an innovative UK partnership programme led by Plantlife to engage people in conserving our neglected wildflower grasslands. From Northern Ireland to Kent, 10 lead organisations will work a consortium of partners to safeguard meadow and grasslands, and provide opportunities for over half a million people to be involved. The Project?s vision is ?a reversal in the fortunes of our wildflower meadows, grassland and wildlife through a step-change in the nation?s understanding and appreciation?.

The Northern Ireland element of the project is being led by Ulster Wildlife and focuses on purple moor grass and rush pastures, and lowland meadows in Fermanagh and Tyrone. Working closely with a local steering group, the Grassland Conservation Officer will champion meadow conservation in the area ? including community awareness and education, providing training and support for farmers and land owners, and undertaking practical site improvement projects. They will also be responsible for the day-to-day running of the project including meeting project targets, managing budget and reporting to funders.

The local Project Steering Group which is currently made up of - Ulster Wildlife, NI Environment Agency, Department for Agriculture and Rural Development, Butterfly Conservation NI, Fermanagh District Council, Omagh District Council, Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council and the European Forum for Nature Conservation & Pastoralism.

The project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Northern Ireland Environment Agency.
