Description

The Green Climate Fund (“the Fund”) is a new multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.

The Fund will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, the Fund will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.

The Fund is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Executive Director. The Fund will pursue a country-driven approach in its operations.

 

The Graphic Designer (Print) will be based at the Fund’s headquarters in Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea. The position is for an initial six months period. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a start-up in international climate finance that offers stimulating challenges.

 

Role

The Graphic Designer will help shape the public profile of the Fund. S/he will be instrumental in advancing the GCF external relations strategy and ensure the Fund’s image is consistently conveyed in all printed materials produced by the Fund.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Under the guidance of Communications & Outreach Specialist, s/he will be responsible for:

  • Helping to shape the brand of the Fund;
  • Designing the most prominent publications and print materials of the Fund;
  • Transforming abstract ideas into clear, informative and creative visualization's of the themes and activities of the Fund;
  • Preparing design proposals for review and comments – these designs must reflect the aspirations, themes and goals established in prior discussions;
  • Overseeing all facets of publication projects, including organizing and coordinating pre-production, approval of all proofs and on-site approval of printing for externally printed projects;
  • Handling the creation and updating of presentations;
  • Creating and producing business pitch books and client review meeting books;
  • Providing guidance and design advice for branding major events, conferences, campaigns;
  • Supporting internal clients on other public communications products.

 

Required experience and qualifications

  • College / University degree in graphic arts, product design, branding, or related fields;
  • Abreast of the most current graphic design software;
  • Sense for visual design and branding;
  • Bright, innovative graphic designer with the ability to work at pace;
  • Track record in conceptualizing, designing and producing publication materials;
  • Thorough knowledge and practical experience in design projects with tight deadlines;
  • Communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another UN language an advantage;
  • Demonstrated experience within the field, in a professional capacity;
  • Experience in analysing, planning and execution of multifaceted design projects;
  • Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level: a) Proven application of expertise; in-depth knowledge within the area of graphic design; b) A team-player with a can-do attitude.
  • Experience in establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds.
