  Sr. Administrative Support  Job Location: Gloucester, MA Work Schedule: Monday-Friday Travel Required: Yes, up to 50% Salary: Commensurate with experience, plus benefitsContact Person: LeShan Witherspoon (lwitherspoon@remsainc.com)  Date Available: Immediately   REMSA Inc. is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and results oriented Administrative Support Specialist to fill an immediate opening in the Gloucester, MA area.  The incumbent must be familiar with the process by which federal grants are administered and monitored as well as the fishing industry in the Northeast U.S.   

JOB DESCRIPTION:The incumbent will be charged with the oversight of monetary awards to recipients of federal grants.  The incumbent will work side by side with scientists and the Federal Program Officer to ensure that the investment by NOAA into the fishing industry is maintained.   You will be the liaison between the agency and the awardees working to resolve issues and monitor progress towards the program’s goals. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

·          Provide assistance to awardees in obtaining answers to inquiries and resolving issues as they arise·          Performing on-site visits to gain an understanding of the project and gauge its progress towards the original goals as stated in the proposal ·          Conducting periodic reviews and issuing recommendations as to the appropriateness of awards to the agency’s overall goals·          Serve to mediate disputes between the grantee and outside agencies as they arise            ·          Maintain current information in files for each assigned award·          Generate and supervise the creation of performance reviews and reports

  • Serve as the primary Point of Contact for the agency concerning all awards

 REQUIREMENTS:Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record is required Education: B.S. in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, or relevant field is preferred.  2-3 years of field experience. 

Skills: A background in federal grants administration, the fishing industry, and/or the legal field·          An understanding of the fishing industry in the Northeastern U.S. and the issues and pressures it is subject to ·          Knowledge of the process by which federal grants are administered and monitored·          Exceptional mediation and negotiation skills  ·          Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal. A professional demeanor ·          Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to understand complex technical information                  ·          Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under deadlines and balance multiple assignments·          The ability to travel as necessary                     ·          Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS Word and WordPerfect to generate reports and documents
