Grant Managers - Building Resilience against Climate Extremes and Disasters (BRACED) Programme

Description

Objective of Programme:

DAI is seeking experienced candidates for the £130 million BRACED programme spanning up to 10 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. BRACED is expected to directly benefit up to 5 million vulnerable people, especially women and children, in developing countries by helping them become more resilient to climate extremes. This will be achieved through: 1) grants to NGOs and their partners (local government, research organisations, UN agencies and private sector) to scale up proven technologies and practices in the Sahel and selected DFID focal countries at most risk; 2) research and evaluation to build the evidence on what works on adaptation and DRR; and, building national and international capacity to respond to climate related disasters. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the development of BRACED fund management and reporting procedures
• Support the due diligence process and contracting for Sahel based grants
• Managing day-to-day grants administration of Sahel focused grants under the BRACED components
• Training and coaching grantees to enhance their capacity in budget monitoring and financial reporting
• Closely liaise with the Knowledge Management Component to facilitate the evaluation of the grantees interventions
• Monitor the grantees progress against agreed milestones and indicators
• Oversee the payment process of grant tranches
• Tracking and documenting fund disbursement and forecasting future spending for Sahel based grantees
• Contribute to efforts in meeting donor reporting requirements as well as reporting to London home office

Requirements:

• At least 8 years of experience in finance, economics, and/or development.  A minimum of 5 years of this experience should be  focused on managing multi-million £ funds or grants programmes in a developing country context
• Strong skill set in reporting, finance and monitoring and evaluation
• Experience in fraud mitigation and management
• Demonstrate understanding of key approaches to monitoring and evaluation and the delivery of Value for Money
• Excellent communication skills and Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential. Fluency in French would be an advantage.
• Experience working in developing countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, and/or Asia
• Excellent relationship management
• Strong knowledge of donor reporting systems and experience working with donors such as DFID, UNDP, USAID and/or World Bank
