Description

This is a Full Time permanent post for a Graduate or Junior Geo-environmental Consultant (<3 years experience) to commence employment from early/mid March. 

You will be working predominantly in the contaminated land and waste management sectors of our business. Typically, this will involve undertaking site visits/site work 3 days a week, in a range of environments throughout Northern Ireland. You can see our typical sites on our social media pages. On the other two days you would intially need to be based in our office in North Belfast, as you undertake training/get to know our systems.

The Employee will also have the opportunity to assist across a variety of other environmental disciplines including ecology, noise & air, drainage surveys, planning drawings etc, which are all part of the multidisciplinary services we can offer clients on projects. 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Educated as a minimum to BSc Level (hold/graduated) in earth science / geology / contaminated Land/ hydrogeology/ Environmental or Civil Engineering or a relevant subject such as Planning/ Geography (with a relevant post graduate qualification).

- You need to be capable of handling, collating and input of data into a range of databases, with the manipulation in Excel being a daily task therefore competent Microsoft computer skills are essential

- Be willing to work in a variety of environments and in seasonal weather, which is a key part of the role half the week. 

- Valid Full UK/NI driving licence (or equivalent driving Licence) is essential for this role. Company vans are available for project work. 

- Basic understanding of conceptual site models needed, and interested in the interaction of groundwater and atmospheric pressure on ground gas. Your skills will be developed to query/question unusual environmental data (eg groundwater levels, gas concentrations and chemical lab results)

- Initially reporting activities will include Desk Studies (PRA), groundwater and ground gas monitoring reports, progressing through to Generic Quantitative Risk Assessments (GQRA), Hydrogeological Risk Assessments, EIAs etc.

# DESIRABLE: Experience in the use of AutoCad, QGIS

- Working towards or hold a post graduate qualification/Masters

- Placement /work experience.

Internal on-the-job training in will be provided to the successful applicant. Salary £18 to 22k / annum gross depending on qualifications and experience. We welcome applications from more experience candidates (salary would be adjusted to reflect your experience).

Typically Monday to Friday  8.30 to 5pm with an hour for lunch, however there is some flexibility on start/end time. There is limited need for any significant overtime on site days.
