Background:

Larkfleet Group is a privately owned construction and development group based in the East Midlands. Their aim is to produce high quality sustainable developments using innovative technology and construction methods, delivered to exceed their customers’ expectations. Larkfleet are committed to the environment and have encompassed sustainability within its DNA.

The first major milestone has been achieved and their head office is now carbon neutral. They are now working to ensure that their new homes also minimise their impact on the environment during the initial building phase and once homeowners move in. In order to do this they will use highly energy efficient materials, renewable energy sources and offset emissions by creating many innovative solutions. This year is the first time that Larkfleet Group have embarked on a management training programme and it is a very exciting opportunity to work with sustainability company at the forefront of the eco building industry with its construction, energy, care and waste ethos.

Objective:

The objective of the training programme is to develop a deep understanding of the entire Larkfleet Group, with the view of potentially taking on a management role in the future. You will be working directly with two of the groups Managing Directors, helping them in all aspects of their roles and representing them at conferences and events. The placement will be on a rotational basis, allowing you to gain a deep insight and experience of working with all of Larkfleet’s main operating companies:

Larkfleet Ltd, Southfield Business Park, Hawksmead, Kestrel Timber Frame Company, Deepings Building and Plumbing Supplies, Eco Building Products, Larkfleet Renewables, Lark Energy, Lark Point, Falcon Waste Development, Falcon Landfill Ltd

This opportunity offers successful applicants a chance to gain real life experience of working in a fast paced and growing construction group at the forefront of the eco building industry. The graduate will have access to all training and workshops provided by Change Agents UK and will gain valuable experience in this sector. This is a 24 week placement but has the potential to be extended to a permanent position.

Outputs:

  1. Help to represent Larkfleet group at conferences, events and meetings.
  2. Help to maintain the growth of Larkfleet Group through efficient working and defined processes, easing the workload of all colleagues.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  1. Candidates must be a graduate (preferably with an economics or business degree) and ideally have a Masters degree.

  2. Must have strong project management skills and experience.

  3. Must display excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain ideas and issues in a clear and concise manner. Candidates must also have the ability to complete reports and deliver presentations to stakeholders.

  4. Good team player, able to react and adapt to changing tasks and workload easily.

  5. Must display confidence, with a desire to succeed and a can-do attitude.

  6. Organised, yet flexible approach to working in order to enable the management of multiple projects at once.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  1. An interest and enthusiasm for the energy, waste and construction industry.
  2. An interest and enthusiasm for the Green Agenda.

Key Tasks:

  • To assist the Managing Directors in all aspects of their roles in order to ease their workload.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
  • To be commercially and financially astute, with the ability to manage complex budgets on behalf of the Managing Directors.
  • Manage multiple projects from start to finish over a period of around 6 months for each
