The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a leader in the U.S. Department of Energy’s effort to secure an energy future that is both environmentally and economically sustainable. The NREL mission is to develop renewable energy and energy efficient technologies and practices, advance related science and engineering, and transfer knowledge and innovation to address the nation’s energy and environmental goals.
A student internship is available in the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) Integrated Applications Center, Market Partnerships & Tools Group. We have an immediate opening for a student internship in our Golden, Colorado office. The position would be part- to full time (20-30 hours per week) during the school year with the potential for development into a full time position during school breaks and in the summer.
We are looking for a highly organized intern with excellent creative problem solving and Microsoft Excel skills. This intern will support a variety of tasks related to quantifying the impact of policies and programs related to renewable energy deployment. This intern will be part of cutting edge teams that are working to understand how to quantify renewable energy market transformation and address market barriers.
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution.

Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation.

Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Preferred: master’s degree student in public policy, environmental studies, engineering, quantitative methods, energy studies, international policy, or equivalent. Proven organization skills, facility with Microsoft Excel, exposure to statistical analysis, and working within a team environment are highly valued in this position. Excellent Excel knowledge is preferred, but a working knowledge is acceptable if it comes with knowledge of statistical methodologies and a willingness to learn.
