Change Agents UK is pleased to be working with Opportunity Peterborough and University Centre Peterborough to deliver the Peterborough Graduate Scheme (PGS), which forms part of the Peterborough DNA programme. This is one of 12 roles on the Peterborough Graduate Scheme (PGS).

Background

Cross Keys Homes is a not-for-profit housing and care association delivering excellent, customer focused services. We are more than just Peterborough’s largest landlord - we provide over 10,000 affordable high quality homes supported by excellent care and neighbourhood services. We lease more than 70 shop units, rent garages, manage temporary accommodation, run our own care service, deliver business solutions to others and are the only HCA partner building affordable homes in Peterborough – 700 more new homes by 2015.

Cross Keys Homes has just embarked on a new environmental strategy following the one planet framework. It is our aim to help our residents and staff have the best possible quality of life and for this we need a city which has a thriving local economy, strong communities and a sustainable way of life. We want to reduce the impact we have on the environment resulting from our business activities. This includes the use of energy, water, the production of waste and the use of transport.

Objective

A key area of concern for us is fuel poverty and reducing Co2. We would like to raise the awareness of fuel poverty and Co2 with both our residents and staff. We would also like to raise awareness of the need to have access to affordable and manageable fuel. Eg we know meters are a good way to help people manage costs - but why should they pay more. We see a real need for a change in behaviour in both usage by residents and how/what they have access to.

The overarching project is a research/change behaviour/nudge campaign that has an impact on decision makers - Government/housing etc, users and providers. We have committed to providing over 3,000 PV panels to our homes and whilst we have completed 1,000 so far - interest from our tenants in reducing.

Benefits of this opportunity

This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to improve their CV by owning and manage their own project, setting timeframes, goals and outcomes. They will gain project management experience alongside communications and general office work experience. The project will allow the candidate to make a real difference to peoples lives by helping to lift them out of fuel poverty. Working with a range of stakeholders this experience will allow the candidate to develop their confidence, communication and persuasion skills.
