Description

American Bird Conservancy solicits pre-proposals for projects that will

provide demonstrable benefits to Globally Threatened seabirds on the IUCN

Red List by restoring breeding colonies within the Americas (defined as

North, Central and South America, including Hawaiian and Caribbean Islands).

A total of USD $100,000 is available. We anticipate supporting up to four

projects.

Specifically, ABC is soliciting projects that meet the following criteria:

Priority consideration will be given to projects that provide lasting benefit

to species listed as Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN), Range-restricted

Vulnerable (VU D2) that are declining, and Data Deficient (DD) on the IUCN

Red List and breed in the Americas. Species eligible under these criteria

are listed in Table 1.

Support for up to one colony restoration project will be considered for

CR and EN species that breed outside the Americas but have an at-sea range

within waters of the Americas.

Projects that implement the proposed conservation action within one year

of award will be rated higher. However, we may support one or two projects

that are in earlier stages of development and have a clear, realistic vision

to achieve a lasting conservation outcome.

Projects must demonstrate match of at least 1:1, to be expended during the

period of performance. In kind match is acceptable. Cash match is preferred.

Details on match will be required in the full proposal stage.
