The Global Sourcing Engineer will manage the identification and validation of key outsourcing partners, flawless new product introduction and performance of the outsourced manufacturing services in close cooperation with the stakeholders and subject-matter experts of the business unit.
The Global Sourcing Engineer collaborates closely with the Business Unit VP, Product Managers and Product Engineers to ensure sourcing solutions are competitive both technically and commercially.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- · Project Manage new product introduction programs.
- · Coordinate negotiation strategy with the Business Unit and Product Engineering communities to prevent information leaks or backdoor selling.
- · Work with Product Engineering to find suitable material and assembly alternatives for mechanical components.
- · Manage supplier performance with input from relevant areas such as quality and planning.
- · Assist Strategic Sourcing team with the development and execution of category strategy.
- · Lead commercial negotiations with its supplier network.
- · Establish contract terms and conditions.
- · Contribute to implementation planning and change management initiatives
- · Train procurement staff members and business partners in procurement processes, manufacturing and project deployment improvements and lean initiatives.
- · Uphold internal and external polices, regulations and laws
QUALIFICATIONS
- · BS in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical, Structural, Aerospace or Electrical. MBA from a top-university preferred; other professional graduate degree acceptable
- · 2+ Years of direct exposure to structural steel and aluminum. Engineering plastics a plus.
- · 3+ Years of Manufacturing experience at a mid-volume/mid-mix assembly manufacturer
- · 3+ years in project management or supplier quality management.
- · Working knowledge of interaction steel mills and aluminum foundries a plus.
- · Direct experience in project management and new product introduction.
- · Six Sigma Black Belt Preferred
- · Lean Manufacturing experience – Hands on Application
- · Knowledge of Spanish, Mandarin, Italian or German a plus but not required.
- · Understands metal markets trends, main industry players and alternative materials.
- · Solid structuring and analytical skills to work on complex issues
- · Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; in particular deep data analysis using Excel
- · Identify key technologies or areas of knowledge SunEdison should control and protect with IP
- · Ability to structure issues and develop actionable recommendations and implementation plans
- · Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- · Strong leadership skills, with emphasis on people development
- · Outstanding cross-functional leadership and communication skills; ability to build credibility and influence with technical groups.
- · Willingness to “constructively dissent” and challenge senior management thinking
- · Able to get buy-in and commitment from both internal and external stakeholders
