Global Silicon Procurement Director, Shanghai, China

My client is a global distributor of PV modules and have had experienced extensive growth in the PV market recently. They are currently looking to bring on board a global director for silicon sourcing to join their offices in Shanghai.

Position Overview:

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced candidate to take a lead position within a global organisation in which you will be able to develop your name as a key player in the market and also to develop your existing skill set. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers globally and in the coordination of shipments to manufacturing sites in China.

Responsibilities:

• ·         Develop and maintain relationships with global suppliers of polysilicon
• ·         Ensure the coordination of the silicon shipments to manufacturing sites in China
• ·         Oversee the prioritization of assignments, budgets and to organize and direct the flow of work to meet both internal and external expectations
• ·         Be responsible for the coordination of purchased material costs inputs required to support proposals
• ·         Ensure that the delay in module manufacturing due to depletion of materials is minimized.
• ·         Lead meetings and negotiations with key suppliers concerning the purchase of polysilicon and to identify changes in the PV market

Core Requirements:

• ·         5+ years experience in polysilicion procurement
• ·         Effective negotiation and problem solving skills.
• ·         Proven track record in supplier management and in the development of such relationships
• ·         Be able to understand the total business operation including material procurement, forecasting, manufacturing and on-time delivery.
• ·         Proven MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) and computer skills, including Microsoft Office or equivalent
• ·         Manage and minimize material costs and control price/cost variances

General Requirements:

• ·         Must be willing to relocate to Shanghai
• ·         The role requires frequent international travel
