Summary of Position:

National Geographic's mission is to inspire people to care about the planet. Our Mission Programs (http://www.nationalgepgraphic.com/mission/index.html) include on-going and new initiatives at local, national and global levels.  The Director, Global Programs and Partnerships will develop and manage the international expansion of Mission Programs in each international region by establishing the strategy. liasing with key local agents, securing funding and establishing operations with the SVP of Global Programs and Partnerships.

Five Principal Responsibilities:

Strategy and Business Development: Develop and manage strategy for each Aisa, Europe, Middle East, Latin America and Africa.

Operations and Business Affairs:  Work with legal tearms in each country to establish legal framework to set up non-profit and related fundraising and grant-giving mechanisms.

Deal Execution:  Research, prioritize and tailor external funding opportunities from presentation prep through client follow-up with local agents to ensure financial sustainability.

Progran and Partner Management:  Oversee mission program deliverables from headquarters to regionsl and back, as well as partner stewardship support to local agents for strong stewardship and fulfillment; monitor sponsor use of activation; attend/organize key client meetings, events, trips, mailings.  Oversee corporate prospect tracking in Raisers Edge.  Work closely woth Development office to Maximize programmatic and philanthropic potential.

Minimum Education:

Minimum of four year degree and 8+ years in international business affairs, marketing, and fundraising.  Experienced collaborator and forward-learner through multi-dimensiona organizations; seasoned in developing and securing partnerships and philanthropy,  MBA a plus.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Demonstrated collaborative ability to work in team settings across cultures and internally within a diverse and synamic institution.

Experience and excellence in leadership and management in multi-dimensional organizations.

Track record of creating innovative strategies, partnerships, and programs without existing models which will translate to revenue, branding, and impact for NG's conservation, education and exploration programs.

Demonstrated fundraising experience.

Previously delivered results while managing competing priorities under tight deadlines.

Demonstrated international business development and negotiation skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, presence and ability to effectively build strong relationships both internally and externally.

Excellent track record of growing and achieving sustainable results.

Reputation for high ethical standards and integrity, displaying diplomacy and tact in difficult or sensitive situations.

Outstanding written, speaking and presentation creation skills.

Excellent computer skills (Work, Powerpoint,Photoshop, Excel, Raisers Edge, ect.)

Represents mission and non-profit programs in detail with passion and knowledge.

Moderate to frequent international travel.
