The post will involve in particular: - conducting and managing research activities in forest/environmental GIS and remote sensing
- initiating new GIS/Remote sensing activities and assisting in fundraising
- implementing/involvement in the following activities:
- analysing and mapping forest ownership structures at European, national and regional scale
- involvement in the field of analysing and mapping European forest types
The applicant should have a Masters Degree (or equivalent). He/she should have - minimum of two years working experiences and fulfil following requirements: - good knowledge of national/European forest/forest sector statistics and associated data collection processes
- good knowledge in image processing/ land cover classification
- advanced technical skills in GIS and remote sensing
- advanced technical skills in database management
- good insight into relevant forest/forestry topics of European relevance
The candidate should have - extensive technical skills in GIS/remote sensing together with the ability to work and communicate with a broad variety of different researchers and stakeholders at European scale. Well established personal networks to GIS/remote sensing laboratories, data providers and stakeholders are of strong advantage. Fluency in English is required, French and/or German language skills are an asset. The candidate should have good communication skills and be able to work in an international working environment both independently and in a team.
