GIS Technician

Background and Objective

Based in Melton Borough Council, the post holder will be responsible for assisting the delivery of the Council’s Development Control, Licensing, Building Control and Enforcement Services, with particular responsibility for the GIS databases that underpin these service areas and the wider use of GIS data and systems within the Council.

Output 1

To contribute to the Council’s corporate policies and strategies, working with officers from all departments of the council.

Output 2

To assist in the implementation of the Council’s corporate and strategic approach to service delivery.

Output 3

To implement a customer focussed approach towards the provision of the Council’s services.

Key Task 1

Manage and maintain the Council’s geographical datasets

Key Task 2

Act as one of the Councils system supervisors

Key Task 3

Take the role of GIS co-ordinator for the Council

Key Task 4

Support for the processing of applications, appeals and enforcement under Town and Country Planning, Building Control and Licensing legislation.

Key Task 5

Handle a small caseload of minor applications

Key Task 6

Monitor conditions of planning permissions
