Description
Purpose of the Job: To manage and deliver the technical support of GIS to Forest Enterprise Scotland.
Key Work Areas:Management of GIS/Forester and related infrastructure in FE Scotland Forest Districts (FDs) and outstations, liasing with internal stakeholders and contributing to the development and testing of new GIS/Forester-related software.
 

Provision of both proactive and reactive technical support to GIS users. Management of all referred faults following agreed escalation procedures.

Maintenance of data integrity in all FE Scotland Forest District databases, identifying invalid data where possible and managing data repair.

Provision of technical support and advice to project managers within IFOS,FES and other parts of the FC. Represent FE Scotland on working groups and project groups as GIS expert.

Analysis and reporting on aspects of the business using GIS/Forester in response to queries.

Provision of relevant, clear and concise technical documentation and guidance. Support use of the system at FD level.

Lead and contribute to other projects, e.g. Manage and execute amalgamation of full or part Forest District databases, creation of country datasets.
