Description

Bristol Parks Service manages over 400+ parks and open spaces, 130+ allotment sites and 8 cemeteries across the city, as well as providing grounds & tree maintenance services across the city’s highways and housing sites.

The Parks GIS team supports a broad variety of operations and project delivery teams across the parks service. We provide an IT systems support, mapping, surveying & inspections service. This means there are always opportunities to get involved with a broad diversity of projects and work environments.

As one of our GIS & Asset Inspection Officers, you will be a skilled GIS technician comfortable with lone working for long periods outdoors.

You should be able to collect, digitize and maintain GIS data accurately. Your role covers GIS surveying, map production, updating mapping and asset management systems and condition surveying of parks infrastructure. Your tasks on site will be varied as we make dynamic use of your mobile working and developing inspection skills.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who is qualified to a minimum level of Degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Alternatively, you will have equivalent substantial and demonstrable experience of GIS and surveying. Our ideal person would also have some experience of infrastructure condition surveying, or a horticultural background, but this is not essential as further training on our inspections will be provided.

You will be based from our Bower Ashton Depot offices with flexibility to agile work from home and other offices at times. You must be willing and able to travel using your own or public transport. Expenses will be paid for work related travel including a mileage allowance if you use your own car or bicycle. In addition, you will be working in a supportive team environment where you will have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.

Why Bristol City Council?

In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.
