Background:

The North Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit (NN JPU) is a small team of planners and urban designers serving the Local Authorities of Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering and Wellingborough along with Northamptonshire County Council. We are responsible, through the Joint Planning Committee, for the preparation and adoption of the strategic planning document, the Core Strategy, for the four areas. This work has been recognised as national best practice. We also support the planning authorities in delivering major projects through advice on policy, sustainability and design issues. We are undertaking a review of the Core Strategy at the moment and this would be an ideal opportunity for a graduate with an interest in planning to be involved in this, and other aspects of the JPU work.

Objective:

The purpose of the role is to support the NN JPU in the review of the Core Strategy mainly through providing GIS (geographic information system) mapping and graphical work and general assistance in the development of policies and ensuring the evidence base is robust. In addition, assistance on registering responses during the consultation period will be required.
