Roles and Responsibilities of the Gin Factory Manager Manage procurement and processing of raw cotton · Develop and implement a procurement plan for in-house raw cotton · Develop and implement a plan for sourcing jobwork lint pressing orders · Develop and implement a storage and transport plan for raw cotton · Develop and implement raw cotton processing plan with o detailed technical specifications for lint and seed as per buyer requirements o detailed staff plan including job descriptions and recruitment for all positions o detailed financial plan including cash flow projections and profitability o detailed Quality Improvement Plan for harvesting, procurement, storage, ginning andpressing · Manage the supply base and develop contract terms to optimize quality, reliability, price,delivery, and availability · Establish, maintain, and update directory of suppliers (farmer associations) · Maintain relationships with farmer associations · Maintain relationships with processing partners including machinery suppliers, serviceproviders, contractors, construction companies, labour officials, worker representatives, local village leaders and government officials · Develop contract terms with suppliers and service providers and ensure maximum service forthe lowest cost to company · Maintain detailed records of factory performance including o financial details, documenting lint & seed recovery, productivity per machine, o human resources performance based on appraisals o stocks of kapas, lint, seed and machinery spare parts · Report to CEO and GM on a weekly basis, and to company Board on a monthly basis · Drive cost reduction activities through procurement & processing enhancement programs Facilitate capacity building with respect to procurement activities · Train staff team at factory to excel in ginning and pressing procedures as per industry bestpractices · Contribute to training of procurement officers and department heads at farmer associations on · harvest related trainings · data management · quality improvement · certification · storage · processing Qualification and experience Technical · Post Graduate or professional diploma in Textile processing · Minimum of 5 years experience in running a ginning mill · Strong knowledge of cotton ginning and pressing machinery as well as maintenance skills · Strong knowledge of the cotton value chain, including o Compliance with quality requirements at spinning and fabric level o Control of foreign fibre contamination through capacity building and procurement qualitycontrol practices Commitment · Strong commitment to working with small and marginal farmers and rural development · Clear understanding of farmer issues and able to communicate well with farmers · Strong commitment to caring for company assets as ones own and sharing responsibility · Willing to stay in rural areas for a minimum of 3 years Leadership · Team leader with a learning attitude, innovative, determined and professional, · Proven capacity to effectively manage and mentor staff with various levels of skills andexperience · Ability to maintain relationships with organizations and people of diverse backgrounds Professional · Previous experience with and clear understanding of results-based approach to projectimplementation, monitoring, and reporting · Experience maintaining business documentation and statutory files · Experience developing training materials and implementing training programs Regional · Previous work experience and knowledge of conditions in Andhra Pradesh · Fluency in English, Telugu and Hindi / Marathi |
