Geologist – Ecology and Environment, Inc. is a fully integrated environmental consulting firm committed to supporting sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship.  We are seeking an experienced Geologist, Environmental Scientist or Chemist (or closely related discipline) for our Tallahassee, FL office.   

This position will be responsible for supporting projects for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) Drycleaning Restoration Program.  Our successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in project management and site assessment including contaminant delineation in soil and groundwater.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project and program management, including financial, schedule, contractual, and technical management
  • Plan work to achieve client’s objectives and coordinate with other staff to implement solutions to project issues
  • Assess documents, analyze data, and generate maps and summary tables to convey investigation data
  • Fieldwork (local and out of state) including assessment, subcontractor oversight, property access, and coordination with local government officials
  • Prepare, edit, and review of concise technical reports and proposals including development of project scope of work, approach, cost estimates, and assumptions
  • Prepare subcontract scopes of work for drilling, IDW disposal, soil removal, and laboratory analysis
  • Business development including targeting client and/or project identification, development and delivery

Job Requirements:

  • BS / MS degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or closely related field
  • 3+ years of experience in the assessment of contaminated groundwater, surface water, and soil
  • Experience with fate and transport of chlorinated solvents/compounds within soil and groundwater in both fractured rock and unconsolidated sediments is preferred
  • Ability to organize a diverse and complicated work load requiring strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and technical writing skills
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to meet business needs; local candidates strongly preferred
