Owing to recent contract awards we are seeking to locate a suitably qualified and experienced Geo-Environmental Consultant for our expanding nuclear sector business, based from our Birmingham office.

The Job

The role will include significant fieldwork across the UK and see you delivering engineering solutions and advisory services on wide ranging projects within the nuclear, utilities, rail and energy & environment sectors. To be considered, we are seeking candidates with the following credentials:

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

•MSc qualified with a BSc in Geological Sciences (or similar)

•Moving towards Chartership in relevant field

Essential Experience:

•Proven experience in a consulting environment

•Good knowledge of land quality issues, including designing site investigations, human health, controlled waters and ground gas risk assessment, remediation options and knowledge of the legislative processes

•Excellent report writing and communication skills

•Experience of managing site investigations

•Some knowledge of the commercial aspects of projects

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to a Principal Consultant / Team Leader, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Hyder’s services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan and to build networks within the industry.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

•Managing components of projects, taking responsibility for own resource and potentially resource allocation of others, managing subcontractors, quality assurance and client feedback and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications

•Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design

•Providing technical input to projects

•Ensuring compliance in the components of the project for which you have responsibility, including drawings, reports, specifications and calculations

•Building relationships with clients on projects

•Gaining experience in commercial aspects of projects

•Liaising with the Project Director or Manager and the client

•Providing input to project team, leading by example to achieve sector goals and championing a quality, innovative, client-focussed and entrepreneurial culture

•Assisting and participating in developing yourself and other team members to their full potential

•Gaining experience of and being familiar and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and promoting a culture of awareness within the team

•Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Hyder Consulting
