General Manager

The Green Islands Foundation (GIF) is an environmental NGO based in Seychelles, functioning as a coordinator of local environmental initiatives, seeking to bridge the gap between the private sector and national environmental programmes. To achieve its mission statement, “to Promote the Mainstreaming of Sustainable Development”, GIF builds partnerships with other NGO’s, private partners and government.  Established since 2006, its initial focus is on tourism operations and production landscape management with the aim to place equilibrium and potential synergies of development and environment at the core of its operations.

GIF is recruiting a General Manager

Responsible to the Chairman of the Board of Directors

who's key responsibility will be to manage and oversee the operations of GIF as per its management objectives, Articles of Association and in line with the requirements of the Registration of Association Acts.

General Duties

• Ensure implementation of GIF strategic vision
• Champion GIF priorities through policy influencing
• Carry out integrated planning, management of environmental issues and services
• Provide sustainable and affordable solutions to environment issues relating to our partners
• Developing, participating in and managing a comprehensive range of environmental projects
• Conduct habitat and species and environmental surveys
• Provide expert, written independent environmental related advice for our partner organizations within the tourism industry
• Liaise with colleagues and consultants and contribute to the production of project associated reports
• Carry out the protection of species and habitat through the conducting of surveys
• Act as mentor to subordinates
• Provide environmental compliance solutions where required
• Design, coordinate / implement as appropriate ecological / environmental assessments

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Candidate must be a University Graduate in Environment Management with at least 5 years work experience
• Must be able to work independently and act as a good team leader.
• Ability to think critically and has good project writing skills.
• Good physical ability and willingness to travel to and from various islands.
• Good in depth background or past experiences in environment related field work.
• Knowledge of and experience with working Seychelles preferred.
