Summary of Essential Job Functions

·               Study proposed ideas including ideas of his/her own for product development and submit recommendations to supervisor.
·               Analyze competitive equipment, design and rating from catalogues and field application recommending suitable designs for improving or broadening our own product line.
·               Make preliminary layouts and design drawings of new or redesigned product line.
·               Conduct or participate in tests in laboratory or field and prepare analytical reports of findings for study by management.
·               Maintain current knowledge of activities in the power transmission industry through reading periodicals, and trade shows and engineering meetings. Make appropriate recommendations for improvement of products and their manufacture.
 
Position Requirements
·               Make engineering calculations of stress, strength, deflections, and critical speeds for new or redesigned product line.
·               Apply proper dimensions to design drawings to meet product line application.
·               Select materials for stresses and operational characteristics of product.
·               Determine specification of purchase parts or material.
·               Determine methods of fabrication of components.
·               Prepare layouts to determine dimension and clearance of drives and other auxiliary equipment.
·               Prepare design and shop drawings of component parts of drive and accessories.
·               Analyze layouts to be sure that proper consideration has been giver to: most economical material by product and a design that will be compatible with our manufacturing facilities.
·               Check manufacturing bills of material for completeness and accuracy.
·               Perform such other assignments as the supervisor may direct.
Education / Experience
·               B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
·               One to three years of design experience (practical and/or academic) in mechanical power transmission
·               Proficiency with CAD 3D & 2D modeling, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word
