Overview:
I.M. Systems Group (www.imsg.com), a contractor to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Gulf Coast Services Center (GCSC), seeks a talented individual to serve as a Coastal Management Specialist. Located at Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, MS, the GCSC is a field office of the Coastal Services Center in Charleston, SC (www.csc.noaa.gov). The GCSC serves the coastal resource management community in the five Gulf States and Mexico. The Center strives to enhance communication, coordination, and collaboration among federal, state, and local resource management agencies, institutions and organizations that make up the network of partners and stakeholder involved in development and delivery of coastal and ocean management-related information products and services.
Duties:
  • Current focus areas include coastal resiliency and inundation
  • Support outreach events such as expos and conferences
  • Support the GoMEX Alliance
  • Develop a working knowledge of the GCSC planning and budget process
  • Maintain a tracking system for GCSC activities
  • Develop and maintain outreach and briefing materials
  • Represent GCSC at meetings and conferences
  • Assist regional partners with strategic planning and projects
  • Assist with delivery and application of NOAA tools and data at the local level
  • Provide facilitation and convening support
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus three to five years of experience in related field, or Master’s degree plus a minimum of two years of experience in the same is required.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently. Strong writing skills required.
  • Experience in coastal resiliency and inundation highly desirable as is experience and an existing network of contacts in the Gulf of Mexico region
