The Green Building Certification Institute seeks a Credentialing Research Summer Associate who will work closely with the Credentialing Team to conduct research on LEED professionals. Part of the research will include conducting internet and research database searches, literature reviews, and other data collection methods (focus groups, interviews, and etc.). After collecting the information, the intern will work closely with the credentialing team to analyze, present, report, and potentially publish the information. The program will begin in June and end in August for a period of 10 weeks. This is a paid summer position. Application deadline: May 20.

Summer Associate Details Include

  • Conduct literature reviews using internet (Google Scholar and scholarly databases (e.g., ProQuest, EBSCO)
  • Determine and select research designs
  • Prepare and conduct focus groups and interviews
  • Assist in managing and organizing data
  • Conduct data analysis to produce basic demographics
  • Draft research reports to summarize and highlight key findings and implications
  • Present research findings and implications
  • Assist in advance research and data/statistical analysis
  • Participate and contribute at meetings that pertain to assigned projects

Education and Training Requirements/Preferences

  • Social science/business/education majors (psychology, sociology, education, business, economics, marketing, political science, public policy, anthropology, geography, criminal justice, plus additional areas of studies) who have successfully completed their sophomore year

Other Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Possess strong analytical, research, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of internet scholarly research databases
  • Basic knowledge of research methods
  • Basic knowledge of statistics
  • Basic knowledge of research report writing
  • Basic Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Familiarity of relational databases
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Good grammar and proofreading skills
  • Good people skills, ability to find solutions to difficult situations and respond in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • LEED Green Associate/AP credential highly desirable
  • Familiar with statistical software (SPSS, SAS)
  • Familiar with survey concepts and survey software
  • Familiar with general product development and marketing practice
