Main purpose of job: To maximise the generation of funds for Free The Bears

Summary:

Free The Bears UK was registered in 2010 with the Charities Commission of England andWalesto support the field programmes of Free the Bears in five countries throughoutSE Asia.    We currently care for more than 200 rescued bears in Indo-china, allowing bears that have been rescued from bile farms, restaurants and illegal wildlife traders to enjoy a second chance at life in world-class sanctuaries. Our innovative education programmes, community support initiatives and wildlife law enforcement advocacy ensures greater protection for wild bear populations which are increasingly under threat from a rapidly growing human population. The Trustees are looking for someone to take on the challenge of growing the profile and income in the UK.  This unique opportunity means that the right person can really make a difference within a young and rapidly evolving charity with well-established field projects and a successful track record of implementing projects.  You will be responsible for all fundraising activity conducted on behalf of the organisation and as a member of the Management Team you will be expected to contribute to long-term planning and attend monthly Management Team meetings.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy in line with Free The Bears’ values.
  • Begin a campaign to start community fundraising groups around the country
  • Lead on new initiatives including major donors, legacies and regular giving.
  • Identify appropriate events or advertising opportunities.
  • To broaden the mix of income streams, develop new streams of income including

major donors, regular giving and legacy funding.

Hours:

2 days a week, from home.  The successful applicant will be expected to have access to the internet and manage their own hours to meet the agreed targets.

Salary

The position will initially be on a voluntary basis with the possibility of becoming a salaried  on completion of mutually agreed targets.
