Position Summary:

The Fundraising Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Rainforest Alliance Development department raise funds for Rainforest Alliance programs from foundation, corporate, government and individuals from Europe, with a particular focus on Spanish donors. Activities related to this goal include researching prospective donors, attending donor meetings and writing fundraising documents. The Coordinator will also act as Rainforest Alliance’s legal representative in Spain.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and expand prospect list of European foundation, corporate and government donors; develop cultivation strategies in coordination with Development department;
  • Identify new leads for potential European major donors and Board members; develop cultivation and stewardship strategies in close coordination with Development department;
  • Create and maintain a centralized list of meeting prospects by region; schedule meetings and prepare materials; attend meetings alone or with Rainforest Alliance Development and/or program staff when appropriate;
  • Write letters of inquiry, concept papers, proposals and reports to European foundation, corporate and government donors;
  • Ensure timely follow up from donor and prospect meetings by serving as liaison between European donors and Rainforest Alliance programs and departments;
  • Carry out administrative responsibilities related to the establishment of Rainforest Alliance’s Spain office; including representing Rainforest Alliance in meetings with local attorneys, accountants, auditors, etc., and maintaining paper and electronic files as needed;
  • Sign local documents, such as banking papers and government filings when needed and according to Rainforest Alliance internal review procedures;
  • Perform banking and other finance related duties requested by Finance and Administration as needed; and
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required,  Master’s degree preferred;
  • 5-7 year of relevant experience;
  • Spanish and English written and spoken fluency required, German or French proficiency a plus;
  • Prior experience interacting with Spanish and other European  development agencies;
  • Must have excellent research, writing and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required, SharePoint and Salesforce preferred);
  • Experience/knowledge of international development and environmental issues; 
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work under tight deadlines; ability to follow directions and work independently; and
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally, up to 25% of the time internationally.
