The position of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Director at Greenpeace Canada offers an exceptionally exciting opportunity for a seasoned fundraiser to be on the frontlines of ensuring a green and peaceful future for the planet. As part of the leadership team of Greenpeace Canada, the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Director will: 

  • Lead the design and implementation of ambitious fundraising plans through phone and door acquisition programs (both internal and external), planned giving, major donor and digital channels;

  • Lead the design and implementation of integrated supporter engagement and supporter journey programs that enable Greenpeace to significantly increase our supporter base and deepen relations with our loyal supporters;

  • Ensure integration of fundraising, campaigning and communications that will enhance our impact through people-centered campaigning;

  • Drive data-driven change management projects to build a diversified pan-Canadian fundraising program that enables Greenpeace to innovate, and grow its financial and supporter base;

  • Apply detailed data analysis and support to our data team to actively monitor the effectiveness of the fundraising & supporter engagement program;

  • Bring people management expertise into the team to increase the capacity, effectiveness and resilience of staff across the country;

  • Participate in senior decision-making processes within the Directors Council; and

  • Contribute to the Greenpeace International Fundraising Directors community, sharing best practice, advice and test results.

YOU POSSESS:

  • A commitment to Greenpeace’s values of solutions, direct action, non-violence, internationalism, independence, Indigenous rights, and a determination to protect bio-diversity.

  • Significant (8+ years) fundraising leadership experience, with a track record of delivering strong income growth.   Extensive experience with monthly donor fundraising is a requirement.

  • Expert understanding of supporter relationship fundraising principles and strategies.

  • Highly developed influencing and interpersonal skills and an ability to lead and inspire others and to foster collaboration across functions in pursuit of agreed goals.  

  • Strong emotional intelligence.

  • Highly developed analytical skills and an in-depth understanding of business and financial planning.

  • Experience of managing significant budgets and a proven ability to achieve ambitious income targets.

  • Significant staff management experience, with the ability to motivate and support a team of fundraising professionals, and to coach and develop management skills within the department. Previous experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.

  • A proactive, results-orientated approach and the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills. Significant experience of managing external vendors.

  • Expert knowledge of market research, product development and testing techniques.

  • Interest and knowledge of new and emerging technologies in fundraising and communications.  

  • An understanding of the role Greenpeace plays in civil society and the movement for social change.  

  • Familiarity with working and maneuvering within a large organization; experience working in an international context is an asset.

  • Ability to travel within Canada and occasionally outside Canada.  

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.
