About Honko Honko Mangrove Conservation & Education is a Belgian-registered non-profit organization, founded in 2008, whose mission is to help coastal communities in SW Madagascar sustainably manage their mangrove resources while developing alternative livelihoods to build community resilience. Our projects have included community-based mangrove management and restoration, ecotourism, beekeeping, small-scale fish farming, environmental education, alternative fuel wood, and we are currently working to develop a Plan Vivo blue carbon project.
Fundraising and Grant Writing Coordinator To help Honko in pursuing its mission and expanding its community-based initiatives, we are looking for a volunteer Fundraising and Grant Writing Coordinator to assist with identifying and applying for funding opportunities that match Honko’s mission and funding needs. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for experience in conservation and non-profit development; fundraising and grant writing experience in particular are great resume builders to demonstrate your ability to secure important funding for non-profit causes!
This position is a volunteer, part-time work-from-home opportunity, not requiring any relocation. However, it will require you to work independently and efficiently, while meeting firm deadlines, with little supervision. Honko is looking for an individual that can commit to at least 3 months, however a longer commitment is preferable.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Honko’s director and field management staff to expand the number of grants applied for and secured
- Identify funding opportunities and develop funding proposals and letters of inquiry for grants and other funding opportunities
- Maintain detailed record of relevant funding opportunities and grant applications in process to track fundraising progress
Qualifications
- Completed at least 2 years of university; a university degree or higher and with grant writing/fundraising experience is ideal
- Organized with attention to detail
- Ability to meet firm deadlines
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with little supervision
- Strong persuasive writing skills
- Demonstrated interest in conservation and/or non-profit causes
- Prior grant writing/fundraising experience a plus, but not required
- Written proficiency in French a plus, but not required
