Fundraising and Development Internship About the Physicians Committee The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is a nonprofit health organization dedicated to saving and improving lives through good nutrition, advanced medical research, and public policy advocacy. Our vision is to create a healthier world through a new emphasis on disease prevention, plant-based nutrition, and scientific research conducted ethically, without using animals. About this Internship Opportunity The Physicians Committee’s Development team is responsible for generating the funds needed for the organization to carry out its lifesaving work and move its mission forward. The Development team also provides communication to supporters to keep them apprised and engaged regarding the impact of their donations. If you are a student or recent graduate who would like to have a real world impact on issues relating to modernizing medicine and research, while learning the art and science of fundraising, then consider applying for this unique opportunity to work with an organization at the forefront of the movements to promote plant-based nutrition and to promote alternatives to the use of animals in medicine and science. The Fundraising and Development Intern will assist with various development activities, including the communications strategy for donor outreach, prospect research in support of major gifts campaigns and special events, fundraising campaign coordination, identifying fundraising trends, and assisting with donor stewardship. The Fundraising and Development Intern will be mentored by our talented development team, including the Vice Qualifications:
Terms: The Physicians Committee is located in the Metro-accessible Friendship Heights neighborhood in Washington, D.C. This unpaid volunteer internship is not available as employment. Housing accommodations near the Physicians Committee office may be available at no cost if needed. Interns may be reimbursed for taking public transit to the office. The Physicians Committee will assist interns in obtaining course credit if applicable. The ideal candidate will be able to intern at least 20 hours a week and commit one to three months to the internship. Start and end dates are flexible.
