Description |
Project co-ordinator required for a fixed period of 3 years, starting in July 2012, to co-ordinate a multidisciplinary, international conservation research project for the Critically Endangered Chinese giant salamander, funded by theUKgovernment’s Darwin Initiative for the Survival of Species.
The position will be based inChina(likely at the Kunming Institute of Zoology) and will primarily involve overseeing and coordinating project activities in the field and laboratory to ensure project goals and milestones are met and reporting to the Principal Investigator and to the funders. The successful applicant also will develop and lead on a communication, education and public awareness (CEPA) strategy for the conservation of the Chinese giant salamander.
The successful applicant must be fluent and literate in both Mandarin and English, will have experience in wildlife conservation and will have a degree in a relevant subject. Project management experience in eitherChinaor inSouth East Asiawould be an advantage.
Training in project management, fundraising, CEPA and other areas as necessary, will be provided
The post-holder must be prepared to travel extensively withinChinaand overseas, including spending periods of time inLondon.
