This is an exciting opportunity to carry out a short term (3-6 month) internship in Renewable Energy with an innovative company, operating in a fast-paced and competitive environment.

The Company – Eco2 (www.eco2uk.com) specialises in developing, constructing and operating renewable energy projects throughout the UK. Our team has an established track record of successful project delivery in a wide range of technologies. Our current activities encompass biomass, wind, and emerging technologies such as tidal power.

The Role – Based in Cardiff the project will involve the development of a biomass fuel management system. The aim is to consolidate a variety of different information sources in order to optimise fuel planning activities for our large-scale biomass projects. It will be important to recognise geographical, market and contract variables in the analysis, including:

•Plant demand – annual, monthly and week ahead – outage planning etc;
•Fuel supplier records – contract volume, pricing and counterparty details;
•Physical stock records – Stack ownership, quantity, location, bale sizes, physical inspection and moisture readings, access information and fuel designation;
•Fuel call off – mix of contract, buffer and spot;
•Spot fuel market – volumes and pricing updates

You will need to liaise with head office and field staff to develop an appropriate solution that may incorporate GIS, remote data uploading and interfaces with logistics and billing systems.

Required Qualifications and Experience – With relevant academic experience – your field may be Geographical, Environmental, Agricultural or Mathematical – and with some practical experience in an office environment. You will have a keen interest in renewable energy and sustainable development, and you will have an open and collaborative approach to project working.

Remuneration – The internship would be paid at a rate of £300 per week.

Hours – Full time for a period of three to six months from June 2012.
