The United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) aims to put the best available biodiversity information in front of national, regional and global decision makers. The Centre is the result of a collaborative agreement between UNEP and WCMC, a UK Charity.
The role: We are looking for a front-end web developer to join our team to work on high profile projects that make the natural world better.
The candidate: We are looking for someone who: * Writes html, JavaScript (including jQuery) and CSS really well. * Is passionate about clean and elegant UI and code. * Likes contributing to and working with open source technologies. We use Ruby on Rails. If you have experience of Rails, that would be good. * Creates maps using JavaScript. We make a lot of maps on our websites. * Thinks it is good to document their code. * Likes to work as part of an agile team * Has a healthy and creative interest in trying new technologies. We like to be innovative. * Cares about what they work on.
The team: We are a team of developers/IT people that work together with scientists, geospatial specialists and policy experts to create web applications that support the improvement of our natural world.
