Introduction

A respected company with excellent career prospects are seeking a Freshwater Ecologist/Senior Freshwater Ecologist to work on a range of public and private sector projects to meet the demands of their increasing project portfolio.

The Job

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Survey delivery (inc electric fishing, habitat survey, macrophytes and invertebrates)

  • Survey coordination

  • Interpretation of aquatic data and writing technical reports

Essential:

  • Degree qualification in related discipline

  • A freshwater specialism

  • Professional experience with a track record of freshwater field work

  • Electric fishing qualification with proven track record of survey delivery

  • Experience of leading and coordinating field work activities

  • Proven ability to design appropriate monitoring programmes and management of survey logistics and teams

  • Detailed understanding of relevant legislation

  • Scientific approach to, and experience of, sampling design, data analysis and statistics

  • Ability to write clear and concise reports

Desirable:

  • Fish habitat mapping/ RHS experience

  • Macrophyte identification skills

  • Macroinvertebrates identification skills

  • Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment
