We’re looking for an intern to help project manage an integrated communications campaign for various river projects which are being run throughout Summer 2011. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience of delivering a communications strategy for one of the world’s leading international conservation organisations.
Location: Godalming, Surrey

Duration of Internship: Approx 3 months, possibility of extension
Frequency: 21 hours per week (3 days)
This is an unpaid position although reasonable lunch and travel expenses may be reimbursed.

In the UK, we work on an exemplar project that aims to protect and preserve our freshwater environment. Part of this work focuses heavily on communicating about why, what and how we can all play a part in protecting our rivers and raising the public profile of local rivers and river wildlife.
We’re looking for an intern to help project manage an integrated communications campaign for various river projects which are being run throughout Summer 2011. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience of delivering a communications strategy for one of the world’s leading international conservation organisations.
Working closely with the UK Freshwater Communications Manager and programme teams, as well as with external NGO partners, you’ll be responsible for overseeing both online and offline communications activities to support some of our Freshwater projects – especially the “Our River Awards 2011”. You will be responsible for providing project support to Our Rivers (and one other project where needed) which will include assisting with engagement of target audiences and involvement in publicity, social media and marketing activities, as well as some administrative work.
It is essential that you possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and have a flexible approach to problem solving. Familiarity with social media and all other communications tools is beneficial. Previous communications experience would be advantageous but not essential. An understanding of climate change and empathy towards environmental issues is desirable.
