Description

The Field Studies Council (FSC) is the UK’s leading charity sector provider of outdoor environmental education.  Much of our work is based at our Field Centres, which have an international reputation for high standards of school and university teaching and associated facilities.  For more information, please visit:  http://www.field-studies-council.org.   

FSC is looking for self-employed Freelance Outdoor and Adventure Learning Tutors to support our work in the delivery of adventurous activities and / or academic fieldwork and environmental education to a wide-ranging audience; engaging and enthusing students and assisting FSC achieve its goal of ‘Bringing Environmental Understanding to All Through First-hand Experience’.  They will be expected to work with groups of all abilities and to have the ability to provide an appropriate standard of care for our learners.

Previous experience of delivering adventure learning and/or academic fieldwork and general environmental education is essential, as are appropriate, current NGB qualifications covering relevant activities.  A degree in a relevant subject is essential for teaching biology, geography or geology field-work courses.

Freelance Outdoor and Adventure Learning Tutors are also expected to have a valid first aid qualification (3 day or more), and to have their own personal liability insurance.  

Work will be offered on an occasional, ad hoc basis as business need dictates, therefore the availability of work will vary.

The first stage of the process is to join one of our introduction meetings scheduled, online, for:

Monday 25th January 2021 at 7pm

Tuesday 26th January 2021 at 10am

A link will be sent prior to the event. If you are not able to join one of these do get in contact with us so that we can make an alternative arrangement.

This will then follow with a face-to-face meeting at one of our centres.
