Stand.earth is hiring a passionate markets campaigner to play a key role in holding the toilet tissue industry to account for its massive climate footprint and convince some of its biggest brands to transition their global supply chains away from forests to renewables. If you love developing creative campaign strategies, have a knack for deep corporate research and engagement, enjoy a well-timed headquarters protest, and thrive in front of a camera or behind an email action alert, this might be the perfect role for you! We are seeking a highly motivated Forests Campaigner to be the driving force behind this next phase as we work to transform the toilet tissue industry. This position is ideally based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Reporting to the Senior Campaigner and Actions Manager, the Forests Campaigner will work on a small, highly collaborative team that includes actions, communications, and digital staff in the US.

This is a part-time (29 hours per week), a non-exempt, limited-term position through June 30, 2020. Salary is commensurate with experience and adjusted based on location, but will likely be within the range of$34 US per hour.

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Work with Stand.earth team, NRDC, and Cincinnati leadership to develop and implement strong campaign strategies to move industry leaders
  • Build local leadership through coalition building
  • Centralize impacted frontline communities in climate justice campaigns
  • Manage campaign to identify and foster relationships with partner organizations and potential allies of impacted communities and the campaign
  • Help design and implement powerful and innovative campaign strategies and field tactics in the greater Cincinnati region such as protests, petitions, rallies, canvasses, and educational events
  • Create compelling reports on-field activities in the form of social media content.
  • Work closely with the development, communications and digital teams on campaign implementation
  • Be an influential spokesperson on the subject of corporate accountability, forest degradation and climate impacts of industry amongst press and opinion leaders
  • Articulate the visions and goals for the campaign in an understandable, compelling, and inspiring manner to Stand.earth staff, Board, partner organizations, funders, and the press
  • Work with managers to create strong relationships with key stakeholders in the NGO and corporate sectors
  • Oversee the management of campaign budgets and monitor both revenue and expenses to ensure the financial health of the campaign
  • Participate in foundation and major donor briefings, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation, as well as writing and editing funding proposals and reports as identified by the development department
  • Work with the digital team, to ensure that the campaign plan works to actively recruit and engage supporters online and offline
  • Nurture and build strong teams so that employees are engaged and involved
  • Other related duties as assigned

Who you’ll be:

  • 2-4 years of working in the campaigns sector
  • Proven ability to generate and respond to media inquiries, identifying and pursuing opportunities for high profile media/communications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of online and offline corporate campaigning strategies and tactics
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Highly organized, flexible, creative, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and able to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Experience working with Indigenous leadership and impacted communities
  • Digital and media-savvy – familiar enough with this campaigning landscape to propose smart digital tactics and represent the campaign with media
