Job Responsibilities
North Wind Resource Consulting, LLC is seeking a qualified forester/botanist to work on a variety of field projects throughout the western U.S. This is not a full time position but may become one. Work will generally entail up to 40 hours of field work per work week.
Qualifications
Position requires a degree in biology, forestry, botany or related degree. Highly desirable qualifications include field experience with forest mensuration techniques and equipment; including dendrometer/relaskop, increment borer, clinometer and/or laser rangefinder, logger's tape, compass, and GPS/datalogger. Familiarity with Northern Rocky Mtn forest covertypes and common associated understory vegetation species; particularly Whitebark and Limber Pine, Subalpine Fir, Grand Fir, and Douglas-fir. Ability to correctly determine habitat type using appropriate keys, recognize conifer insects and diseases, and assess severity. Ability to work independently in remote and rugged settings, hike several miles to access worksites, carry a 25+lb backpack, work 10-hour field days, and camp using "leave-no-trace" techniques.
