Consultant opportunity based in Guyana
Global Witness seeks a Policy Advisor to be located in Guyana on a short-term, extendable contract basis in support of our work on governance, monitoring and transparency in the forest sector, including initiatives for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) that are currently underway in Guyana.
The role would initially entail a three month scoping period, the objective of which would be to establish an organisational presence for Global Witness in Guyana and provide constructive advice on forest governance, monitoring and transparency issues. Depending on the results of this scoping study, Global Witness would determine whether or not to extend the contract for a further 12 months, during which time the focus would be to support the development of local non-government actors in the pursuit of greater transparency and stronger participatory governance initiatives in the forest sector and REDD. Following this, a decision would be made on handing over project management to a local non-government organisation (NGO).
