Project / Field of activity

 

It is anticipated that the experts will work under the leadership of an international team leader under the Indonesia Australia Forest Carbon Partnership. The program will provide technical assistance and other support to the Government of Indonesia on forestry and climate change issues.

 

Responsibilities

 

At various provincial locations in Central Kalimantan Province, the experts will provide assistance to local Governments and communities on technical issues related to reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD) particularly in peat forests:
- (Community-based) forest management, rehabilitation and reforestation, recultivation of Ex-Mega-Rice Project area
- Prevention of forest fires
- (Community-based) peat forest conservation
- Community development
- Forest carbon management and monitoring, including fund management
- Cooperation with local, national and international organizations

 

Qualifications

 

- Experience and strong skills in above mentioned technical fields, preferably in an international development context in Indonesia or the region;
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork and cross-cultural skills;
- Capacity to employ adaptable, flexible and responsive approaches to achieve results in dynamic, challenging or uncertain contexts;
- Strong understanding / experience of natural resource management related to climate change and community development;
- A degree (preferably with post-graduate qualifications) in natural resource management or similar field from a recognized university;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia language skills;

 

Duration
