Are you passionate about building a better, more sustainable food system? Want to know more about how to make sense of the future and the bigger picture, and turn that into action today?  Are you keen to contribute to a major initiative around the future of protein? We’re looking for an intern to support Forum for the Futures, Protein Challenge 2040 project, which is a multi-stakeholder partnership which Forum is facilitating. The initiative is beginning an exciting new phase in developing innovation workstreams to create solutions for sustainable protein. We are looking for an exceptional individual who is seeking an exciting challenge and who wants to be part of a small team with big ambitions. We need someone who has experience of research, stakeholder engagement and writing, who can support the project team with a variety of project management tasks.

The role will be based at our UK office in London for three months.

1.       Role Summary

This is an exciting and unusual opportunity to learn about food sustainability more broadly and protein specifically. You will be undertaking research, supporting workshops, project communications and stakeholder mapping. You will be part of Forum’s Food team and will contribute towards our thinking and strategic priorities more broadly. There is an opportunity to engage with a broad group of stakeholders, both within Forum and externally.

2.       Responsibilities

•         Providing support to The Protein Challenge 2040 team, in the form of desk-based research, project communications and stakeholder mapping and other activities, for example, research into trends, innovations and new business models relating to the innovation workstreams.

•         Other reasonable support tasks as and when required

4.       Person Specification

•         An understanding of and interest in sustainable development, particularly around food. An interest in the role protein will play to meet future global needs, from both a sustainability and nutritional perspective

•         An understanding of, and/or a healthy interest in, systems thinking

•         Excellent, demonstrable research and communication skills

•         Excellent ICT skills, including high-level proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel

•         Ability to organise and prioritise work and meet deadlines

•         Ability to follow instructions, work independently and be self-motivating

•         A commitment to the values and mission of Forum for the Future

5.       Internship details

This internship is part time for three months. The internship is unpaid, with lunch expenses up to £5 a day and travel within London Zone 1-6 reimbursed.
