Description

Compassion in World Farming is the leading international farm animal welfare charity, campaigning to improve the lives of millions of farm animals through advocacy, lobbying for legislative change, and positive engagement with the global food industry. The goal of our established Food Business team is to place farm animal welfare at the heart of the food industry, and in doing so we are recognised as the credible partner on animal welfare standards and policies, to the major food retailers, food service companies and manufacturers.

The right Candidate will ideally demonstrate both strong account management and project leadership skills. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships and projects with leading French food companies in order to deliver higher farm animal welfare standards and food choices. You will need to be approachable, adaptable and have a positive disposition that inspires confidence, and well as being a driven self-starter, who can work on your own as well as in a team.

Fluency in both French and English is essential. The post holder can be based in Godalming, Surrey, or in Paris.

You will need to be an excellent communicator, ideally with experience in partnership development, in order to provide a compelling case to engage with food companies, and promote the value of, and business case for, improved farm animal welfare policies and practices in France. A track record of managing a Sustainability/Corporate Responsibility programme within the retail and/or food and/or ethical supply chain sector or a strong track record of managing NGO programmes and campaigns to commercial organisations, would be an advantage.

You will be able to bring a commercial perspective to welfare issues, and will have a solid understanding of the issues, practices and strategy in sustainability and/or animal welfare within the food supply chain. This role requires you to be realistic but ambitious about what is achievable with companies.

This post provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a programme that intersects with the commercial world and the sustainable food supply chain, and a chance to make a lasting impact within a dynamic and relevant organisation.
