The Trust for Public Land, a national nonprofit dedicated to preserving land for people, is recruiting for a development director for the state of Florida. This position will be responsible for all development activities within the state including major gifts, with a special emphasis on identification, cultivation, solicitation and management of major donors and foundations; working with advisory council members, volunteers and staff to leverage TPL's projects and programs for philanthropic purposes; donor recognition and communications; donor tracking; and planning and producing donor events. TPL has offices in four locations within the state: Miami, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and St. Petersburg. The position will reside in one of those locations and be required to travel throughout the state on a regular basis (50% or more) in addition to occasional trips outside the state for nationally-sponsored development events. The chosen candidate's geographic preference will be taken into consideration along with the candidate's knowledge of that area's philanthropic market. Requirements include: 7+ years fund-raising experience at all levels, including major and annual gift solicitations; computer literacy, including knowledge of philanthropic database programs, availability to travel, and knowledge of Florida's philanthropic market.
