North East CMA is seeking an experienced, reliable, motivated person to undertake the role of Floodplain Specialist.

  • Executes the Authority’s advisory functions related to floodplain management
  • Strategic planning and emergency response regarding floodplain management
  • Provides statutory advice to Local Governments on floodplain management

The North East Catchment Management Authority is seeking an appropriately experienced and reliable, self-motivated person to undertake the role of Floodplain Specialist. The CMA’s play an important role in Floodplain Management to ensure that regional flooding issues are managed in an integrated manner.

Reporting to the Manager Water Programs, this position aims to execute the Authority’s advisory functions related to floodplain management and the river health program, specifically to: 

  • provide sound statutory advice to Local Governments to minimise impacts on the floodplain and overall river health;
  • assess and issue Works on Waterways Permits;
  • undertake investigations regarding regional floodplain management;
  • assist with strategic planning and emergency response regarding regional floodplain management.

The role is varied and offers significant scope for development.
