Our client is a major provider of expert solutions and policy advice on environmental issues. They provide clients with objective, science-based information, advice and implementation services across the environment sector.

 

A vacancy has arisen to lead the development of flood risk assessment services at their Wolverhampton office. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking business development, delivery and project management for Flood Risk Assessments and Strategic Flood Risk assessments in collaboration with other staff and to provide support in wider water quality and water resources projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To technically lead and write Flood Risk Assessments to comply with PPS25 and TAN15 managing a small project team.
  • To undertake hydraulic modelling of watercourses using industry recognised software.
  • Undertake analysis of data necessary to determine flood risk
  • To lead and contribute to tenders and proposals for flood risk assessment and water resources work.
  • Project management of Flood Risk Assessment and Water Resources projects.
  • Liaison with corporate and government clients.

 

Personal Qualities, Skills and Experience:

  • First degree in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Sciences, Geography or Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Post-graduate qualification or equivalent in physical geography, hydrology, environmental science or similar
  • Experience in undertaking Flood Risk Assessments Strategic Flood Risk Assessments in compliance with PPS25 and TAN15.
  • Proven experience of hydraulic modelling of watercourses using industry recognised software (e.g. HEC-RAS, ISIS, TUFLOW, Windes, FEH techniques)
  • Good knowledge of UK planning policies and legislation
  • Experience of SUDS design
  • A proven track record of business development
  • A keen interest in water resource issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, high personal motivation, capacity for team work, desire to learn new skills.
  • An ability to manage large projects through the careful coordination of physical resources and staff time
