Description

Producing, managing and delivering timely flood risk information and evidence that underpins the work of NRWs Flood Risk Management teams.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Undertake flood risk modelling studies for communities identified at risk (hydraulic modelling of flood risk areas to identify and refine knowledge on flood extents, depths, velocities etc),
  • Undertake assessments of potential options for reducing flood risk within these communities (Feasibility studies)
  • project manage framework consultants in the delivery of flood risk modelling projects
  • preparing and maintaining public facing flood maps,
  • incident response
  • post flood data collection and analysis

  Job Specific Requirements

  •  Relevant qualifications - educated to degree level or equivalent in a scientific or engineering subject
  • Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in 1D/2D fluvial or coastal modelling (eg. Experience in ISIS, TuFLOW, Flood modeller Pro, Infoworks, MIKE)
  • Good project management knowledge with experience in delivering projects;
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Must have full UK driving licence
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload

Due consideration has been given to the Welsh language requirements for the post and the existing skills within the team. Taking this into consideration the Welsh language skills required for the post are at Level 1.

Level 1 - The ability to use basic Welsh conversational phrases (eg “bore da” – “good morning”) and to pronounce Welsh place names correctly

Status

This is a permanent, pensionable full-time appointment of 37 hours a week.
