The role
We're looking for a Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Team Member to help manage Environment Agency assets in the South East. The role calls for technical support to help with business processes and systems which enable us to manage, maintain and improve our assets ensuring they operate as designed. Being part of Operations Management, the role will also include involvement in our incident management function. The team The Asset Performance Team Berkshire is responsible for the management and maintenance of main rivers and their associated assets within the Kennet and Loddon Catchments along with the River Thames in Berkshire. Our team, using the Environment Agency's permissive powers identify, plan and programme work to deliver asset management in flood risk areas. We work closely with our Field Teams and other Environment Agency departments in the delivery of this programme to ensure we provide best value and apply best practice. We also ensure strong communication with our professional partners and land owners within our work. We offer our skills and expertise to teams delivering the Water Framework Directive improvements and other asset owners along the rivers. Experience/skills required We're seeking someone with a keen interest in flood risk and incident management who has either a formal qualification in an Engineering or Science discipline or experience in this area. Experience in contributing to or delivering small scale project management is desirable. You'll be skilled in using or employing: • databases; • geographical information systems; • reporting tools; • spreadsheet management. Other requirements for this job include working as part of team as well as using your own initiative on given tasks. We require someone with good communication skills both written and spoken to convey information to both colleagues and our customers. Additional useful information The role will be based in Goldcrest House near Farnham, with possible travel to field locations across the West Thames Area and to our offices in Reading, Wallingford and Oxford. Use of public transport is encouraged whenever possible but on occasions use of a car is needed therefore the post requires a full UK driving licence.
